J-1 Waiver Information

This section provides information for organizations and individuals who have special recruitment needs or employment interests in defined populations with substantial provider recruitment problems. These geographically defined regions, termed Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSA), Medically Under-served (MUA-MUP) areas, and Dental/Mental Health Shortage Areas provide the basis for special loan repayment assistance, U.S. visa waivers for physicians wishing to remain in the United States, and other special programs. Information about programs offered here is provided as a service to employers as well as candidates. While every attempt is made to provide the most accurate and updated content, guidelines to these programs are not under the control of the Michigan Health Council (MHC), and therefore MHC cannot warrant accuracy of this information.
