What is Medical Opportunities in Michigan?

Medical Opportunities in Michigan, more commonly known as MOM, is Michigan’s only state specific website that connects physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners with healthcare employers and communities. 

MOM, launched in 1994, is a program of the Michigan Health Council (MHC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization which was created by the Michigan State Medical Society, the Michigan Health & Hospital Association and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. 

For over 60 years, the MHC’s mission has been to provide better access to healthcare services throughout the state by promoting current health workforce and the promotion of future healthcare professionals.   

How does MOM work with Healthcare Employers?

MOM is not a recruitment/retention firm.  MOM provides healthcare employers (health systems, individual hospitals, group practices, etc…) the opportunity to become a MOM member and gain the ability to post unlimited opportunities and search the database of candidates that have expressed an interest in Michigan.  To learn how to become a MOM member, please contact us at 1-800-479-1666 or recruitment@mhc.org.  

How does MOM work with Physicians, Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners?

MOM provides physician, physician assistant and nurse practitioner candidates the FREE ability to register on the site, submit their CV and search opportunities with MOM members.  Candidates can make their information viewable to MOM members or be on the site confidentially.  MOM does not sell or disclose candidates’ entrusted information.  If you would like to register on MOM to view opportunities, click on CANDIDATES. 

How is MOM funded?

MOM was initially funded by a grant received through the Kellogg Foundation.  Today, MOM is a self-sustaining program of the MHC supported by its members – healthcare employers throughout the great lake state!  There is never a charge to the candidate.
